Missionary Max

Meeting Missionary Max’s Biggest Fans

I’ve posted before about my interactions with a group of sixth graders who are super fans of everybody’s favorite fictional missionary, Missionary Max. Until recently, all of said interactions have been virtual, me being in Brazil and they being in the US.

Two weeks ago, however, I was able to visit their classroom and spend a morning with them, answering questions, talking about writing, and generally having fun.

Answering the questions of the young fans. I appreciate the validation from the screen behind me.
These three knew an astonishing amount of Missionary Max trivia, and were thus awarded with an autographed copy of the first book.
A sixth grade class with remarkable taste in literature.

As a bonus, we had a virtual visit from Zilson Costa, the cover artist for the Missionary Max books. All in all, a very enjoyable morning.
