Our local pastors, together for our monthly breakfast/meeting.
This took place back when everybody was playing around with new features on ChatGPT, so of course I couldn’t resist…
Studio Ghibli pastors. The Maranhão pastors go to Springfield.Lego pastors, and an inexplicably apologetic fruit juice.

Took a few years…and pounds…off me, but who’s complaining? In May of 2024 I set out to read the Bible as many times as possible in the time God gives me. By May of this year the total was up to two.Lots of cool things happening at Ebenezer, like this evangelism outreach……and some of our young people developing the skill of bringing the Word to the congregation. One of those young people is our very own Nathanael. We have also started filming our messages and adult Sunday School lessons and posting them on YouTube. You can see them here. Not all of our fellowship happens within the church walls. On this particular Sunday we all went out for Pizza after the service. The group shot after the pizza.Itacyara and I had the privilege of introducing this young couple to the various aspects of ministry here in Maranhão…including the Mount Zion Baptist Camp.Pray for Raimundo and Ruth as they pray for God’s will in their life and ministry. On May 2nd we took off for a much-needed and long-overdue vacation, in which we celebrated (a couple months early) twenty five years of marriage. There was plenty of relaxing…And romancing…At the end of the day, however, there’s no place like home.Shortly after our return, Sofia – one of the kids in our children’s outreach – told us she had accepted Christ as her savior. This is the best possible welcome-home present. In June of every year Brazilian churches celebrate “Pastors Day”. I had completely forgotten about it, but Ebenezer surprised us with a nice breakfast.I love ministering to these people. On Monday we headed back to camp with a bed donated by a member of a sister church.
Finally, just for fun…
Seen on the streets of São Luís. If FedEx isn’t available, there’s always “Fredex”.

Last week I reported here about the retreat being held by the First Regular Baptist Church in São Luís at the Mount Zion Camp. At that time, the retreat had just begun and I only had a few pictures. Now that the entire event has happened, there are more, and I share some of those…
Last night the Ebenézer Regular Baptist Church held its annual Christmas program. Here are some pictures. Pictures taken by myself and various members of the congregation. Updated with additional photos.
One of the benefits to the traditional approach to furlough (four years on the field, one year stateside) is that it affords ample opportunity for a missionary to step back and evaluate what went right and what went wrong during the previous term. As Itacyara and I engage in this process, one of the sources…
