Camp Update: Ladies’ Retreat 2026 is In the Books!

Last week the Mount Zion Baptist Camp had the privilege of hosting the fourth annual Ladies’ Retreat, an event sponsored by our regional ladies’ association. This is always one of the highlights of our camp year, and this year did not disappoint.

Here’s a peek into the event.

The emphasis of these retreats is always on the spiritual aspect.
Always fashion conscious, every retreat has its own official t-shirt.
For the first time, all of the musicians were women, including this young lady from our own Ebenézer Baptist Church.
This year’s messages were challenging and edifying.

Not all was seriousness, however. There is always fun and games. Like this fancy hat contest, featuring our own Brazilian Bombshell…

Incidentally, the winner of that contest was also from Ebenezer Baptist Church…and her hat actually lit up!

Speaking of Itacyara, she was absolutely unstoppable during this event, as is the case with her at all of our camp activities.

Here she receives a well-deserved appreciation gift from the ladies.

And these pictures really do not do justice to all Itacyara does during these retreats. We arrive a day early, and while I am troubleshooting issues that have come up with the infrastructure she busies herself cleaning and organizing the spaces the ladies will occupy. Then once the event begins she is awake and active until well past midnight, and then up again at the crack of dawn. After the ladies leave we spend an extra day there, in which she cleans and organizes while I pay people who need to be paid and start preparing for the next retreat.

The camp has a special relationship with our ladies association. Every year they raise funds to bless the camp with something that it needs. This year we used, for the first time, the new refrigerator they purchased for us (seen here in transit from our house to the camp).
