Camp Update: Porch Progress and River Renovation

This weekend we spent some time at camp, overseeing progress on the ongoing projects.

The porch as it looked on Friday.
Another angle.
Work has begin on the porch on the other side of the dormitory.

For several months we have been trying to figure out what to do about our swimming area. After several false starts we have found a contractor who has done this kind of work before, and who has given us a price that is compatible with our budget.

Work officially began on the swimming area on Saturday.

This weekend we are also blessed to have company as we worked at camp. Paulo and Sione from the Boas Novas church, and Ivo and Stephanie, who are working in the city of Porto Velho.

Paulo fires up the grill.
Ivo puts his bricklaying skills to work.

Of course all of this work takes on a tone of urgency because in less than a month we will be hosting around 70 women for our first ladies retreat, and then in October around that same number of young people for our teen retreat. In February of 2024 we will be hosting the first ever Carnaval retreat at our camp.

As we see all these things happening, we look back to September, 2011, when we purchased the camp property, and marvel at what God has done since then.
