Last month the Mount Zion Baptist Camp held it’s third annual Teen Retreat, and it was awesome. With each passing year we gain more experience, the program gets better, and enthusiasm for the ministry among our churches and young people grows.
This year our theme was “Challenges for Young People in Post Modernity”. We were blessed by the preaching of Pedro Henrique, an up-and-coming Bible College student. His preaching and personal testimony made an impact on the lives of our campers.
Here are some pictures of the event:
Teen Retreat begins on Friday morning, when we haul food and other supplies from São Luís to camp, and begin the set-up process. The campers arrive by bus on Friday evening.Bright-eyed and ready for breakfast. Before entering the ministry, Pastor Geandro worked for a time as a short-order cook. His skill makes the food at our camp second to none.Itacyara manages our kitchen year-round, and works in it during major events.Happy campers are the best campers. The carpetball and corn hole equipment built earlier this year by a team from the US got a LOT of use at the retreat.Friends are friends forever…Paying rapt attention to the Word.Ready…set…SPLASH!Reflection and rejoicing around the bonfire. The big improvement this year was the use of our new dormitory, baptized “La Casa Madrid”, in memory of our good friend, and friend of this ministry, Larry Madrid.

Nathanael and I spent this last Tuesday and Wednesday at the camp, where the work on the electrical installation continues. Last week marked the third and final ministry of our seminary puppet team over this vacation period. Since the end of classes they have ministered to roughly 150 children and reported at least 20 decisions for Christ. I am very proud of their dedication and hard work. Below are some pictures of this last week…

Death-defying taxi drivers, corrupt government officials, hordes of angry natives, Nazi robots… Wait…did you say Nazi robots? Yes. Yes we did. It’s all in a day’s work for the one and only Missionary Max. Missionary Max is a fictional character created by real-life missionary Andrew Comings. He (Max, not Andrew) is something of a cross…
