At the Borders of Pain and Suffering*

An update on the Ebenezer fund-raising “marathon” is long past due.

Despite threatening clouds, the event went off without a hitch. Several of our church members were joined by members of a couple of our sister churches at the Itapiracó park. After a word of prayer and some orientation from Pastor Francivaldo (who organized the event), we took off.

They don’t even look winded!

Fun activity: find the gringo.

Donations are still coming in, so we don’t have an exact figure of how much was raised. It appears to have been quite a significant amount. We’ll be sure to update you when we have a confirmed number. All proceeds from the event will go towards the construction of the Ebenezer auditorium.

In personal news, I was able to run a 10k for the first time since I began running in earnest back in 2018. Here’s a little video I recorded after crossing the finish line:

As I mentioned when I posted this video on Facebook, there are two important edits: 1) It’s FELLOWSHIP Baptist Church in Lakeland. 2) It’s Art of Board GAMING.

Cut me some slack, I was exhausted.

* From a quote by Czech runner and three time Olympic gold-medalist Emil Zátopek. The full quote reads “It’s at the borders of pain and suffering that the men are separated from the boys.”
