The Charming Past of São Luís
When one visits São Luís today, one is confronted with the ruins of what was once a beautiful colonial city. While there are still places that exude old-world charm, much of it has been lost due to the natural increase in population and accompanying urbanization. But this “old tropical city” feel existed well into the 20th century, as these pictures show.
