Ministry Update: Pastor Fred and the Nova Era Church Plant
Be sure to read to the end of this post, where there is a special opportunity to participate.
On Sunday morning our family paid a visit to Pastor Fred Alencar and his wife Andrea at their church plant in the Nova Era neighborhood – a roughly twenty-minute drive from our home.
This church-plant is a unique opportunity to “get in on the ground floor” of an area that will one day be a large, bustling residential area. Pastor Fred has been working there for about three years now, and already the population has grown exponentially from when they first started.
As soon as we arrived on Sunday we joined the teams of church members in walking the streets of the neighborhood, handing out tracts, and inviting people to the church services.
One of the main reasons we visited this church was to look at two pieces of property that were for sale on the same street as the church. The congregation has grown to the point where the modified house they are using is no longer sufficient, and they need new facilities. Here are the two adjoining lots:
After Pastor Fred explained to us how the church would like to build their sanctuary here, and use their current facilities for a parsonage, we were able to give him the good news that an offering had come in which would allow them to purchase the property outright. Needless to say, there was much rejoicing in the congregation that morning.
Here’s How You Can Help:
Once the property is purchased, the Nova Era congregation will need to raise funds to put up their building. If you would like to participate with them in this endeavor, please visit this page to see how you can contribute online. IMPORTANT: Please make sure you designate contributions as “Building”. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
We are very excited to be able to participate in this way at the ground level of what we anticipate will be a very strong church in growing neighborhood.
