Our (Dwindling) Missionary Team
Last week we had the privilege to once again attend the annual conference of the Baptist Mid Missions missionaries serving in Northeastern Brazil. We were able to be refreshed by the fellowship and camaraderie of people engaged in the same work, encouraged by reports of what God is doing, and edified by the messages brought to us by Pastor Scott Snyder of South Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan.
The picture consists of our team (minus two families who are on furlough), plus a couple missionaries visiting us from other regions. On Thursday, we had a special time of remembrance for five of our missionaries who are retiring. And while we rejoice at over a century of combined service represented by these dear colleagues, we are sobered by the realization that there is absolutely nobody coming to replace them.
Every year, the group picture gets smaller and smaller.
